My project is experimenting with the idea of social hub What does it actually mean?

How should we construct an idea of community in a shape of a building?

Usually today we experience public buildings as one or more masses equally divided by floors.

This causes us to lose interest in our surroundings and lose the full experience that a building

should give us.

In an era where we find ourselves connecting more in the palm of our hands instead of with our

eyes and ears, We should rethink the way we are shaping public buildings.

The purpose of the project was to create a mixed use building, that will include housing, kindergarten ,office area, and leisure. My search for the shape of the building and questioning the right way of implementation of the program driven my project.

This search brought me to the notion that it will be more unique to develop all the different parts under one roof, instead of creating different buildings or separated spaces to all of them. More over I have decided that the building will be half way underground because of the natural slope of the lot. And for using it to my advantage in order to connect it better to its surroundings.

Another focal point of the project was the main façade that is giving a whole new perspective to the building itself. The façade was created with a special code on Grasshopper in order to achieve this unique shape. The surface is separated into small squares and each one of them into four triangles. Each triangle have the option to open/close in response to temperature.

The technology implemented in the make of the façade responsive to its surrounding is called 'Thermobimetal'. This new bio metal creating the option of design buildings and spaces that are more green and with better responsiveness to their natural environment.
